Overview and Accreditation










The Colegio Americano de Torreón is a private, non-profit, non-denominational, college preparatory international school providing a bilingual/bicultural educational program to approximately 1300 students in grades Pre-Kinder to 12th High School. C.A.T. strives to be representative of the best aspects of Mexican and United States culture, language, pedagogy, and values with a major emphasis placed on the development of bilingual ability and bicultural sensitivity.

Accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) since 1954. The last accreditation visit from SACS took place in June of 2007. C.A.T. offers students an opportunity to graduate with dual U.S. and Mexican high school diplomas. The school is run by a 13 member board of director that establishes policies and hires the General Director.

Accredited by the Secretaría de Educación Pública (SEP) and Secretaría de Educación y Cultura del Estado de Coahuila (SEDU).
